Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers (SHPE) Receive OMESAC Student Group of the Semester Award

The OME Student Advisory Council (OMESAC) Student Group of the Semester Award was designed to recognize the contributions of participating student organizationas and to cultivate their continued success and collaboration with the OME and other OMESAC groups.

The mission and vision of the Society for Hispanic Professional Engineers (SHPE) is closely aligned with the mission of the OME.  SHPE's mission is to change lives by empowering the Hispanic community and impacting the world through STEM awareness, access, support and develpment.  SHPE has recently launched a mentorship program for students interested in graduate school or medical school, while also establishing a SHPE Jr. Chapter at Somerville High School!  The Junior Chapter, commonly referred to as the Engineering Mionorty Outreach Club (EMOC), is starting to gain popularity on its campus.  The organization has also provided a plethora of networking events to help its members meet executives and representatives from companies such as Shell, Merch, Facebook, JP Morgan, Boston Consulting Group, Jet Propulsion Laboratory, and Intel to name a few.  SHPE has also aligned itself with the OME's diversity and inclusion values by hosting several events such as Finger Foods with the Faculty, Festival de las Americas, Cena a las Seis, Sabrosura, the Activities Midway, and their End of the Year Banquet.  These events increase SHPE's exposure on campus enabling them to become more engaged in the MIT community.  Please join us in celebrating the accomplishments of the SHPE board and all of the members of this wonderful organization.  .
