If you are interested in the SPA position indicate with a yes or no. It is ok to rank and also choose yes for SPA which we will assume expresses your interest in both positions.

In 500 words or less, please describe a time when you had to have a difficult conversation (non-romantic) with a parent, professor, classmate, roommate, etc.
Part A - What made it difficult? How did you initiate the conversation?
Part B - What was the outcome, and what did you learn from the situation and conversation?
Part C - Would you do anything differently today? How has this experience impacted the way that you address similar situations if/when they arise?

EXPERIENCE & INTERESTS: PERSONAL STATEMENT PROMTS

Please provide responses to each of the following in your personal statement:

1. Describe your experience being a TA and/or mentor for a diverse group of students at MIT and/or prior to MIT (if applicable). What did or do you most enjoy about the experience?

2. Please explain why you are interested in the RFA or SPA role and what you hope to gain through the experience, should you be selected. 

3. If selected for the position, what would you contribute to your peers, the scholars with whom you would be working, and to the program overall?

4. What are your strongest attributes (i.e., time management, passion, technical skills, etc)?  What is one of your biggest challenges or weaknesses?

 

In addition, all Communication/Writing applicants must submit a short (250 words or less) writing sample in order for their application to be considered complete.
