Inside UCSF: Inside UCSF, taking place on April 24th and 25th, 2015, is a preview of the University of California San Francisco’s Schools of Dentistry, Medicine, Nursing and Pharmacy, the Graduate Division and Physical Therapy for prospective students. Enjoy student panels, interactive workshops, classroom experiences, and interactions with UCSF leadership, faculty and students. This exciting and informative program is designed to introduce students to a specific health-science career path, provide opportunities to meet faculty and students, and offer a chance to become inspired about future career possibilities. Let’s Get Ready: Let's Get Ready provides low-income and first-generation students with free SAT preparation, admissions counseling, and other support services needed to gain admission to and graduate from college. Services are provided by volunteer college students and recent college graduates who also serve as role models and mentors. The Transition Coaching program is a near-peer coaching program which connects high school seniors to current college students and recent college graduates who will use their college admissions experience to support the high school senior’s successful transition to college. College students and recent graduates chosen for this program will coach high school seniors through college admissions, financial aid, and scholarship application processes through phone, e-mail, text, and in-person support as well as advertise scholarship and workshop opportunities to high school seniors. The Let’s Get Ready office will provide training, materials, and continuous support throughout the semester. Current college students and recent graduates with demonstrated passion in education are encouraged to apply. ReachOut: Share the Joys of Math and Reading with a Child: ReachOut is a math and literacy tutoring program that matches MIT students with children at local after school centers for tutoring at least twice a week. We will train you to work with young students to foster a love of reading and math. This is a great opportunity to work in the community, meet other MIT students, and make a difference in a child's life!  Students may participate in ReachOut as volunteers or receive a paid position through Community Service Work-Study. SROP at Ohio State University: The Summer Research Opportunities Program (SROP) at Ohio State is a summer research experience designed to help historically underrepresented undergraduates explore opportunities for graduate study. Participants work with a faculty mentor within their area of study and begin to develop a collegiate-mentor relationship that is crucial to success in graduate school. Some of the highlights of SROP include students conducting original research under the supervision of a faculty mentor, two semester credits, workshops on topics including research writing, financing, and applying to graduate school, presenting research, and GRE preparation, working one-on-one with Graduate School staff to prepare graduate applications and identify potential sources for graduate funding, oral and written presentations of research projects, the ability to earn a $3000 stipend, and receiving campus room and board. In order to be eligible, students must be at least one of the following: African-American, Native American, or Latino/Hispanic, First generation or low income student, rising Junior or Senior, citizen or a permanent resident of the U.S., have a 3.0 or higher G.P.A. on a 4.0 scale, and have interest in pursuing a Ph.D. or terminal graduate degree. MIT Diversity Summit: On February 12th, 2015 MIT will hold its second day of its annual Institute Diversity Summit. One highlight will be opening remarks by MIT's Institute Community and Equity Officer, Ed Bertschinger, who will discuss what he learned through an MIT listening tour and share his thoughts about building our strength in community, diversity, empowerment and respect. Day 2 on Thursday, February 12th, 2015 will begin with registration from 12PM to 1PM and the scheduled program from 1PM to 5PM. Next Step Test Prep – Free MCAT Diagnostic Test: With the new MCAT officially launching in April students need as much practice as possible. Next Step Test Prep has created a half-length diagnostic to give you jump start on your preparation. This online test is designed to give you a test day experience in about four hours, anywhere you have access to the internet. NASA Academy: The NASA Academy, an intensive 10-week residential summer experience, is looking for applicants for Summer 2015. Living with other highly motivated interns, participants will conduct important lab research at a NASA center, participate in group projects, and attend learning events with NASA leaders and industry experts. After graduation, participants will join the NASA Academy Alumni Association (NAAA) where their roles in the space community will truly begin. AMGEN Scholars Program at Caltech: Caltech's Amgen Scholars Program is geared towards students in biology, chemistry, and biotechnology fields. Some of these fields include biology, biochemistry, bioengineering, chemical and biomolecular engineering, and chemistry. Students must be current sophomores through non-graduating seniors, must be attending a four-year university in the US, and must be U.S. citizens or U.S. permanent residents with a minimum GPA of 3.2 on a 4.0 scale to be eligible. Amgen Scholars will receive a $6000 award, round-trip air transportation, campus housing, and a food allowance. Online applications are due February 15th, 2015. Cornell University LSAMP REU: Cornell University is seeking the intellectually rebellious for the LSAMP-REU program this summer! CU LSAMP-REU is a paid summer research opportunity for undergraduate students interested in gaining a deeper understanding in an engineering-related field. Participants will conduct and present research over a ten-week duration under the auspices of a Cornell Engineering faculty research mentor. The program will take place from June 7th, 2015 through August 7th, 2015. Participants will receive a research stipend of $4,000, a round-trip travel stipend of $300 for students outside of Ithaca, NY, access to state-of-the-art laboratories, libraries, computer lounges, and more! In order to apply, students must be a U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident and African American, Hispanic, American Indian/Alaska Native, or Native Pacific Islander in good academic standing with a GPA of 3.0 or higher who has completed at least two semesters of college and has at least two (2) semesters remaining of undergraduate education at the start of the summer program. Isabelle de Courtivron Prize: The Isabelle de Courtivron Prize was established by MIT’s Center for Bilingual / Bicultural Studies to reward high-quality undergraduate writing (creative or expository) and to honor distinguished Professor Emerita Isabelle de Courtivron. De Courtivron, a professor in MIT Foreign Languages and Literatures, was one of the founders of the CB/BS. The Prize was established on the occasion of her retirement in 2010 and is awarded on an annual basis. The Isabelle Courtivron Prize is seeking student writing submissions on immigrant, diaspora, bicultural, bilingual, and/or mixed-race experiences. This prize is open to all MIT undergraduate students. Entries will be judged by a panel of faculty and professional writers. The winner, to be announced this April 1st, 2015, will receive a $400 reward and have their submission featured on the CB/BS website: cbbs.mit.edu. European Career Fair: The 19th European Career Fair will take place on Saturday, February 21st, 2015  from 9AM to 4PM on the campus of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in the Johnson Athletic Center, W-49. This event is open to all MIT students, MIT PostDocs, MIT alumni and other college and university students and young professionals interested in working in Europe. Candidates attending the fair will have the opportunity to submit their resumes online prior to the Fair for employers to review, network with over 100 European employers at the fair, attend company information sessions and events held February 21st through the 23rd, 2015, and interview with European employers (if selected) on February 22nd or 23rd, 2015. HACU National Internship Program: Attention sophomores, juniors, and seniors! If you’re seeking an internship with the federal government or in the corporate sector, the Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities can provide you the opportunity to graduate with career experience. The HACU National Internship Program (HNIP) can help you can gain this experience while living in the nation’s capital or other exciting major cities nationwide. GHMHI Mental Health Disparities Talk with Pamela Collins: The Global Health and Medical Humanities Initiative (GHMHI), under the leadership of Professor Erica Caple James, has invited Pamela Collins, Associate Director for Special Populations at the National Institute of Mental Health, to give a talk on campus during the spring 2015 semester on mental health disparities. The Office for Special Populations coordinates research and policy work on the mental health needs of women and minorities and under Dr. Collins' leadership, these topics are being explored both within the United States and beyond. Dr. Collins will speak at MIT on February 27th, 2015 from 10AM to 11:50AM as part of the ongoing Friday Morning Seminar series; the exact location of the talk is yet to be determined. MIT Africa Innovate Business Plan Competition 2015: Do you have an idea that is original and scalable and that solves an important problem for the continent’s inhabitants and stakeholders? We want to hear it! Submissions must be received by February 28th, 2015. Eligible submissions must clearly demonstrate potential for direct and substantial commercial and/or social impact in Africa and feasibility of implementation within any African market. Stanford GSB Research Fellows Program: The Research Fellows Program at the Stanford Graduate School of Business (GSB) offers a unique post-baccalaureate, two-year fellowship for high-potential individuals to do research in business related fields, such as Economics, Finance, and Political Economy. Because of its strong belief in the value of diversity (broadly defined) in the pursuit of its educational mission, Stanford GSB strongly encourages applications from women and under-represented minorities, as well as from others whose backgrounds and experience would bring additional dimensions to the educational experience. The fellowship offers tuition, health insurance, and a living stipend. The application for the July 2015 start date is now available and will be accepted during two admissions rounds. 2015 NASA MUREP Scholarship & NASA Scholars: NASA's Office of Education is accepting applications for Minority University Research and Education Program Scholars and NASA Scholars. The MUREP Scholarship focuses on underserved and underrepresented students in STEM. NASA Scholars is open to all students in STEM. Both are competitive opportunities that focus on students in science, technology, engineering and mathematics, disciplines, to address the critical shortage of qualified STEM professionals that the nation is facing. Eligible students include rising freshman (high school graduating seniors or GED recipients not yet enrolled in college), sophomores and juniors, at the undergraduate level, who will complete their undergraduate degree in spring 2016 or later and Minority Serving Institution community college students with at least two years remaining at the community college. The goal is to address the agency's mission-specific workforce needs and target areas of national need in minority STEM representation. The scholarship includes up to a $9,000 academic scholarship, not to exceed 75 percent of verified tuition, and a $6,000 stipend for a required 10-week internship at a NASA center during Summer 2015. The internship provides scholars with a unique NASA research experience and preparation for global competitiveness. Applications are due March 1st, 2015. Applications should be submitted through the NASA One Stop Shopping Initiative at https://intern.nasa.gov/. Applicants should be sure to select “scholarships” for the type of application. MUREP scholarships and other NASA Office of Education scholarships cannot be concurrently accepted or combined with another U.S. government scholarship or funding, irrespective of the scholar's status.

2014-15 Virginia Space Grant Consortium STEM Bridge Scholarship: The Virginia Space Grant Consortium, or VSGC, is offering renewable scholarships to sophomore undergraduate students studying science, technology, engineering or mathematics, or STEM. The STEM Bridge Scholarships are $1,000 and are available to students who are U.S. citizens from any federally recognized minority group enrolled fulltime at one of the five VSGC member universities: The College of William and Mary, Hampton University, Old Dominion University, University of Virginia and Virginia Tech. The STEM Bridge Program bridges students to future opportunities by mentoring and guiding them to future VSGC scholarships and NASA-related paid internships. The program encourages students to explore how their majors can apply to NASA’s Mission. This is a competitive program, and awards are based on student academic merit, quality of interest essay as well as letters of recommendation from current college faculty who can attest to students' interest in STEM areas. NASA Pathways Recent Graduate Program: Attention Graduating Seniors! NASA is currently seeking participants for the Pathways Recent Graduate Program, which is open to recent Grads for up to two years after they graduate. The Pathways Recent Graduate Program is one of the government’s pipelines for entry level positions, in addition to the Pathways Internship Program. NASA Goddard does not utilize the Recent Graduate Program extensively but many other NASA Centers do. Atlantis Project 2015 Hospital Internships for Pre-health Students: Hospital internships run by AP provide students experiences within government-run hospitals in Europe. MWPC Internship Program: The Massachusetts Women’s Political Caucus (MWPC) is a non-profit, non-partisan organization founded in 1971 with the purpose of maximizing the participation of women of all ages in the political process, and increasing the number of women elected and appointed to public office and public policy positions in Massachusetts government. The goal of the Massachusetts Women's Political Caucus Internship Program is to provide the interns with a positive learning experience within the modern women's political movement.
