MIT-NSBE Present MUSE Research Colloquium

Join The MIghTy MIT Chapter of theNational Society of Black Engineers for the Minority Undergraduates in Science & Engineering (MUSE) Research Colloquium,a showcase of student research here at MIT. Participants have the opportunity to win cash prizes by giving a well-organized power point presentation of one’s research to a panel of judges. Presentations should take around 15 minutes, with an additional 5 minutes for questions. This event is part of MIT's Black Week 2013 sponsored by the Council for the Advancement of Black Students (CABS). Make sure to check out all the exciting events we have planned throughout the week!

The Isabelle de Courtivron Prize

The Isabelle de Courtivron Prize seeks student writing submissions on immigrant, diaspora, bicultural, bilingual, and/or mixed-race experiences. It is open to all MIT undergraduate students. Entries will be judged by a panel of faculty and professional writers. The winner will be announced on April 1, 2013.

  • The winner will receive a $400 award.
  • The winning submission will be featured on the Center for Bilingual/Bicultural Studies (CB/BS) website.

Cybersecurity Research Experience for Undergraduates in Science and Engineering

The Clark School of Engineering at the University of Maryland is seeking applications for Scholars to become integral members of team-based research projects in cybersecurity coordinated by faculty in the Maryland Cybersecurity Center (MC2). Students majoring in engineering, computer science, math, and physical science are strongly encouraged to apply.

QEM/NSF Summer Science Internship Program

The Quality Education for Minorities (QEM) Network is offering a 10-week science policy-focused internship in Washington, DC for students at an accredited college or university who are from groups underrepresented in STEM and are interested in science policy. To be eligible, applicants must be undergraduate or graduate students who are majoring in a STEM field. This internship opportunity is made possible through a grant to QEM from the National Science Foundation (NSF).

LA-SIGMA REU:  Interdisciplinary Research Experiences in Materials Science

This Research Experiences for Undergraduates (REU) project is a nine-week program where students work collaboratively on a wide variety of materials science projects.   Each student receives a stipend of $4,500, free housing in university dormitories, and up to $400 in travel expenses. Thirty students will be selected, five for each:  Louisiana State University, Louisiana Tech University, Southern University at Baton Rouge, Tulane University, University of New Orleans, and Xavier University of Louisiana. Students from all universitites are encouraged to apply.
