Her nominator writes:

Adanna Abraham-Igwe is an exemplary model of an MIT student who has demonstrated amazing talent for the performing arts with her commitment to dance and singing on campus. Adanna joined Ridonkulous her first semester at MIT and has been part of the competitive urban hip-hop team for two years. As part of the team, she performed at charity events, collegiate showcases, and competitions across the greater Boston area in addition to their yearly show, Footwork. Adanna not only participated as a member, but she also served as Captain for a semester, where she helped lead the team and organize its dance events.

Adanna also spread her skills with the greater MIT community as shown during her time on the Exec team of Black Women’s Alliance. She led dance workshops for Black Women’s Retreat and co- choregraphed and performed a dance routine during the annual Black Women’s Banquet.

In addition to her dancing, Adanna has also been active on campus demonstrating her singing ability. She has been a vocalist on Jazz Ensemble for three semesters and performed shows for the MIT community at the end of every semester. Adanna has also engaged in the acting community at MIT and has acted for the Black Theatre Guild in the past and plans to continue to perform in the following years.
Overall, Adanna’s commitment to a wide variety of performing arts organizations across campus and her ability to engage with the MIT community prove her an excellent nominee for the Distinguished Peer Performing Arts award.
