Jacob Higgins - Public Service

His nominator writes:

Upon arriving at MIT, Jacob Higgins immediately sought ways to serve his new community. He joined MedLinks, a student group whose mission is to connect students with health and wellness resources on campus. When students are feeling ill, they come to Jacob with their needs, seeking comfort, and a smile. Jacob later became involved in MedLinks’ Executive Board, where he led the training of more than 60 new MedLinks. Later in his freshman year, Jacob joined SaveTFP as well. Whereas MedLinks helped him serve his community at Senior House with medical care and advice, SaveTFP allowed him to facilitate social health on campus by hosting events with food and fun activities. In addition to promoting physical, mental, and social health among MIT students, Jacob more recently became involved in the Senior House Turn Around Committee as well as the Working Group on Potential Post-Election Changes to Federal Law and Policy. Jacob devotes an immense amount of time to his fellow students and MIT community members, and he deserves recognition for his efforts.
