Kenny Egbuonu - MIT Spirit

His nominator writes:
Kenny has shown MIT spirit through the endeavors he’s pursued since his first year at MIT. Last year, he played an active role in the Ebony Affair Financial Committee, with the goal of showing prospective MIT students the strength of the Black Community on campus, and he’s assisted in running many events for his fraternity, Nu Delta, during the 2018 Campus Preview Weekend. Over the course of his freshman year, he joined multiple organizations to give back to the MIT community and bring the community together: he became a lector for the Tech Catholic Community, a member of DanceTroupe, and a member of the inaugural class of The Standard, to name a few. Perhaps his most meaningful contribution to the MIT community over the past year was his participation in the Interphase EDGE program as a Calculus RFA. In this position, he was privileged to work with a few members of the incoming class of 2022, serving as both a multivariable calculus instructor and a mentor for these students. It brought him great joy to play a role in these students’ evolution, going from not knowing whether they belonged at MIT to slowly but surely finding their place and their self-confidence. This year, he plans to become an 8.01 TA for ESG to continue helping students find their place at MIT and to keep the MIT spirit alive.
