His nominator writes:

Dario Garcia-Dominguez has been a significant part of the music community at MIT for the past three and a half years. As a classical pianist with 15 years of experience, he found that the music program at MIT helped cultivate him as a musician, as well as a critical thinker and a researcher. His experience within the music department has helped him reach many achievements in classical piano, and helped him foster personal characteristics, such as discipline, confidence, and commitment that make him an inspiration to his peers. Since he arrived at MIT, he has been involved in many aspects of music: both solo and in groups. In his first two academic years at MIT, he was an Emerson Scholar, and since Fall 2013 he has been an Emerson Fellow and a student in the Advanced Music Performance class. He is a winner of the 2015 MITSO Concerto Competition and will perform with MITSO in December 2015. He has participated in several semesters as an accompanist for other Emerson Scholars, and he has been in several chamber music groups as a part of the Chamber Music Society. Additionally, he has been featured in the Tech in a campus arts spotlight interview:
