What is it?

Congratulations! MIT has been chosen to participate in the 2014 Ultimate Field Trip Competition!

What is the Ultimate Field Trip?

"The Ultimate Field Trip" (www.bp.com/UFT/US)is an exciting competition for the brightest undergraduates around the world. 12 universities from the US will compete for the chance to be the US Champion and join winning teams from Canada, the UK, Angola and Trinidad and Tobago on a trip to Alaska and Chicago, Illinois.

Who should participate?

  • BP looks for a high level of rigor in submissions. Individuals/Teams who apply should be willing to prove that their ideas are practical, scalable, workable and financially viable.

What is in it for the students?

  • Each team that wins their campus finals will be given a $100 individual prize with a chance to win the runner up prize of $250 each or the grand prize of the Ultimate Field Trip.
  • The grand prize is a 2 week fieldtrip with BP and winning teams from around the world to Alaska and Chicago, Illinois to see BP operations first hand.
  • The aim is to offer an unforgettable and life changing experience.

The 2014 Challenge

  • The challenge:

Identify an innovative solution that will significantly reduce energy consumption and be implemented by 2025, with the potential to scale across the energy industry. This could apply anywhere from point of capture to point of sale of energy products, and potentially even create a new product stream.

The Timeline:

  • November 1st: Application deadline for all campuses
  • November 1st - 8th: Teams are selected for all campuses
  • November 11th: Qualified teams are provided case information and begin preparing for competition
  • Weeks of January 13th – February 10th: Recruitment teams to hold Campus Finals
  • Week of February 17th: Winning teams provided a BP Mentor and additional information for the next stage of the competition.
  • April 10th and 11th: UFT US National Finals in Houston, Texas
  • June 17th – June 30th: Ultimate Field Trip winners in Alaska and Chicago areas

Invitation to Participate in Georgia Institute of Technology Graduate Recruitment Program-FOCUS 2014

The Georgia Institute of Technology invites the participation of your students in one of the nation’s premier recruiting programs. This three-and-a-half-day event is designed to attract the best and brightest underrepresented minority students and encourage them to pursue graduate studies. FOCUS 2014 is the twenty-third annual event and will be held in Atlanta on January 16-19, 2014! SUMR @ Penn-Paid Summer Internship in Health Services Research

The University of Pennsylvania's Leonard Davis Institute of Health Ecomonimcs (LDI) offers paid summer interships for underrepresented minority undergraduates, or any other undergrads interested in exploring the field of health services research.

Eligibility-Program participants should have an interest in health care and strong quantative skills.
