Her nominator writes:

Nicole Harris is a strong leader on campus and an even stronger advocate for the Black community. Nicole always makes an effort to speak out for Black voices in a variety of manners. For example, she recently gave a speech at the MLK Luncheon, where she talked about the experience of being a Black student at MIT as well as rallied for support in opposition to the defamation of the BSU posters. She is always willing to be a voice that speaks with administration concerning Black-related issues and is not afraid of going the extra mile to make sure her audience understands the meaning behind her words. Nicole has been a pillar to the community and she is always there to uplift us and is an outstanding example of what a Black leader is to everyone.

Additionally, Nicole is a strong student and scholar. She previously has worked as an Undergraduate Teaching Fellow for Terrascope where she helped first year students with understanding complex global issues. Right now, Nicole is currently doing research at the McGovern Institute of Brain Research as a Synthetic Biology Researcher and hopes to continue doing research as she has intentions of pursuing a PhD. Additionally, she has been involved in UPOP and she is a member of Laureates and Leaders and a few other programs within the Office of Minority Education.
