Suan Tuang

Suan is an alumni of the Department of Chemistry.

Tell me about your first encounter with MIT's OME Office?
My first encounter was when I met Associate Dean Tammy Stevens and Sekazi Mtingwa during a Campus Preview Weekend (CPW) ’10 info session for Interphase as a pre-frosh.

What were your initial impressions?
Tammy and Sekazi were very helpful in answering the questions I had. I really liked the friendliness and enthusiasm.   

Did those impressions change over time?
No.

What programs did you take part in, and how were they helpful?
I took part in Interphase during the summer before freshman year started. It provided me with a lot of help and support that I would need to succeed in my studies. In addition, I got to meet really cool fellow classmates. Furthermore, Interphase eased the transition from high school to MIT.
               
I was also in MAP, Mentor Advocate Partnership, where I was matched with a mentor, Dan Chapman of the UAAP Office. I learned a lot from him; especially how to survive first semester at MIT.

What was your most memorable or valuable experience with OME?
My most memorable experience with OME would be the moments I shared with the staff and my classmates.

If you had to describe OME with one word, what would it be?
Family.

What would you want others to know about OME?
OME is the best office in MIT of all time, of all time....
